What
should you do after the funeral?
After the funeral, there will be a number of things that require
attention. Most of them fortunately, can be postponed for a reasonable
length of time, until you feel ready.
Browne's Mortuary understands the intricacies of bereavement and will provide care for you
and your family in your time of mourning.
In addition, we will assist
you in the following areas of importance:
FINANCIAL
INFORMATION
After a funeral, financial accounts are an important concern.
Financial accounts:
Checking Accounts
Savings Accounts
Trust Accounts
Money Market Accounts
Annuities
Certificates of Deposits
Credit Union Fund
IRAs
Mortgage/Personal Loans
Mutual Funds
Pension Funds
Stocks and Bonds
However,
most banks have different policies, so it is suggested that an
individual contact his/her financial institution(s) for its/their
requirements.
REAL
PROPERTY
All real properties (home,
condominium, and rented or vacant properties) should be expeditiously and properly
transferred. Browne's Mortuary recommends a person do so with competent
professional assistance to safeguard his/her interest and assets.
VEHICLE
TITLE TRANSFER
Transfer of title is needed
for all motorized vehicles. All forms and title transfers can be done at the Secretary
of State/Department of Motor Vehicles, a satellite courthouse, or a local tag
agency within the county. We recommend an individual call one of these facilities
in advance for documentation requirements.
INSURANCE
To claim entitled insurance
benefits, the following documentation is required:
A certified copy
of the Death Certificate for each insurance company
Claim form signed by the beneficiary(ies)
Browne's Mortuary will assist in filing life insurance claims of the insured deceased. We have
all relevant insurance claim forms available. In fact, in most cases the beneficiary
can assign the insurance proceeds to pay the funeral expenses.
SOCIAL
SECURITY
Browne's Mortuary will file a death claim form with the Social Security Administration within
7 days after funeral arrangements have been made, notifying that a death has occurred.
We recommend that a person call the Social Security Administrative nearest to
him/her to discuss any benefits for which he/she may be entitled to. Information
regarding the location and telephone number of the nearest office can be obtained
from Browne's Mortuary. A certified copy of the death certificate
may be necessary to satisfy Social Security requirements.

Application for
burial benefits
Application for United States flag for burial purposes
Application for Government Marker
